The Anti-Basketball Team

My friend Rachel Edwards has always dreamt of having a basketball team for girls who really don't know how to play, but really want to have a good time while changing up their work-out routine. This season of BYU intramural basketball, Rachel decided to make it happen. I am honored to say that I am a part of this team, nay, this family.

I am not kidding when I say we are really...really...bad. But I am even more serious when I say that we have so much fun. Our team talks before each game sound a lot what someone would say to their fifth grade basketball team.

"Make sure everyone gets to shoot at least 10 times"
"You must have at least three creative passes girls!"
"EVERYONE gets a chance to play"
"We fowl out at 5 fowls...so make sure you get at least 4" (that one might not be said to fifth graders... they wait until your in the big time to tell your players that).

The first best part- we are the only sponsored team in the league. We are sponsored by Rachel and Jessy's (Jessy is Rachel's roommate and another teammate) work--Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. So you tell me; what name could be more fitting, for a bunch of white girls running around pretending to play basketball, then White Chocolate.

Yes. I am aware that is back wards.
Also. . . we all are required to have candy names. The idea for mine came from a friend.

If you can't read that. . . it says Almond Joy. Get it? Amy Jo. -A.J.- thus- Amy Jo. So yes- we have jerseys- we look pretty intimidating. The best part is... we also act intimidating- we cheer loudly no matter what and always act a little cocky. People either love us or hate us. We also tend to draw a crowd (we are quite entertaining). But- these are the reasons people do things like forfeit.

Our first game we won (due to forfeit- anyone in the right mind would have been scared).
Game two the score was 64 to 23. You know which was us.
Our last game was something like 15 to 32. The gap got smaller.
I will keep everyone updated. We might start selling tickets if anyone is interested.

Amy Jo that is hilarious. I would pay big money to watch you girls play!!

P.S. I totally miss you. Should we get together some time? Or I can just keep blog-stalking you. Your choice.
